About

What are infectious disease profiles?

Our infectious disease profiles check your immunity and screen for blood-borne viruses. Patients use them for work, university and occupational health requirements, after a needle stick or sharps injury, or when they want the earliest possible detection of HIV and hepatitis.

Antibody tests show how your immune system has responded to an infection or vaccine. PCR tests look for the genetic material of the virus itself, which means they can detect some infections earlier.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions.

What does the MMR status check show?

It measures IgG antibodies to measles, mumps and rubella. These show whether you have immunity, from vaccination or a past infection. Employers and universities often ask for this, particularly for healthcare roles and placements.

What does the needle stick injury screen test for?

It tests for HIV I & II antibodies and p24 antigen, hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C antibodies, all from a single blood sample.

How is the early detection screen different from the needle stick screen?

The needle stick screen looks for antibodies and antigens, which the body produces in response to infection. The early detection screen uses PCR to look for the viruses themselves, so it can pick up HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C at an earlier stage.

How quickly will I get results?

Results are usually ready within 24 to 48 hours, sent by WhatsApp or email.
